Merino Wool Vests

Merino Wool Vests

Discover our legendary 100% Merino Wool Vests for men and women - pure, British-made and unlike any vest you've worn before.

Warm, soft and remarkably lightweight, our PureFleece® merino wool vest, or Gilet as we also call them, delivers superior core warmth with complete freedom of movement. Officially certified by the Woolmark Company, our 360gsm PureFleece® fabric is precision woven for increased insulation and greater loft - creating a natural microclimate around your core, transporting moisture and maintaining breathability across every season.

The natural crimp in merino fibres creates tiny air pockets that trap warm air close to your body when it's cold, while allowing excess heat to escape when you warm up - regulating your temperature naturally, without a single synthetic fibre in sight. The sleeveless design gives unrestricted arm movement, making our merino wool gilet the perfect active mid layer for hiking, cycling, running or any high-output activity.

Whether layering your merino vest under a waterproof shell on the hill, or wearing it as a standalone piece in town, PureFleece® adapts with you. Our mens merino wool vest and women's merino wool vest are precision made in the British Isles from 100% pure merino lambswool - no blends, no recycled plastic, no compromise.

Chosen by outdoor professionals to perform better than anything synthetic.

FAQs Merino Wool Gilets

Yes, and it keeps your core warm without the bulk. Merino’s natural crimp traps warm air when it’s cold and releases heat when you warm up, so you don’t get the clamminess of polyester. Woven 360gsm PureFleece® has an ultimate warmth to weight ratio.

Yes. 'Gilet' is the UK word for a sleeveless insulating layer, and 'vest' is the same garment elsewhere. Our merino wool gilets are also sold as merino wool vests.

A gilet keeps your core warm and leaves your arms free. It works well as a mid layer under a PureFleece® Jacket or shell, or on its own on milder days, and it layers easily over a base layer or shirt.

No. At 20 microns, the fibres are fine enough to bend against your skin instead of prickling, where regular wool is around 35 microns. It’s soft enough to wear next to the skin.

A chest pocket, two waist pockets and two larger inside stash pockets, all lined in soft eco cotton moleskin, so there’s room for keys, phone and gloves on the move.

Rarely. Merino resists odour and dirt, so hang it in a breeze and brush off any marks. When it does need a wash, use a cold wool wash or hand wash, or dry clean it. Never tumble dry. It’s pre-shrunk, so it keeps its size if you follow the care steps.

In Britain. Our unique fabric is woven in Yorkshire from 100% Merino lambswool, and the gilets are made in Britain with zero plastic throughout.

Yes. PureFleece® is officially certified by the Woolmark Company (certification number 0030001480).
