Women's Merino Wool Clothing

Women's Merino Wool Clothing

Our women's merino wool clothing collection is built to layer: gilet, quarter zip and jacket, each cut for how women actually move, and each woven from 100% Merino Lambswool with zero plastic anywhere in the fabric.

Built to layer, whatever the day brings

Wear the gilet over the quarter zip on cold, still mornings. Reach for the jacket alone on milder days, or layer it over a base layer for winter hiking. Each piece is designed to work on its own or stacked together, so your merino wool wardrobe adapts as the day changes rather than needing a different fleece for every temperature.

Warmer than a synthetic fleece, without the itch or the plastic

Most warm fleeces for ladies on the market are polyester, which traps heat unevenly, holds odour and sheds microplastics. Ours never will. At 20 microns, our Merino Lambswool is fine enough to bend against skin rather than prickle, and it manages moisture and temperature in a way synthetic fibres simply can't replicate.

Finding your fit

Each product page includes a fit and sizing guide with real model measurements, so you can see exactly how a piece sits before you buy. Most of our clothing is cut with a comfortable fit, roomy enough for a base layer underneath.

Chosen by outdoor professionals to perform better than anything synthetic.

Every PureFleece® purchase contributes £1 to Scottish Mountain Rescue and £1 to the Exmoor National Park Rangers.

FAQs Merino Wool Jackets

Yes - and it's smarter about it too. Unlike synthetic fleeces, a 100% merino wool jacket regulates your body temperature rather than just insulating it. The natural crimp in merino fibres creates tiny air pockets that trap warmth when it's cold and release excess heat when you warm up. Our 360gsm PureFleece® mid layers outperform any polyester fleece, and unlike synthetic alternatives, merino retains heat even when wet.

Yes. Unlike polyester or blended fleeces, 100% merino fibres have overlapping scales containing natural lanolin that help shrug off light showers. Merino can absorb up to 30% of its own weight in moisture and still feel dry against the skin — and critically, it retains heat even when wet, which synthetic fleeces cannot.

It's the preferred choice of outdoor professionals for good reason. A merino wool jacket works as a breathable, moisture-managing mid layer that adapts to changing conditions on the hill. It's surprisingly light, naturally odour resistant, and wearable all year round - making it equally at home on a mountain trail or a city commute.

For the best care, a quick hand wash in lukewarm water at 30° or below. That said, merino wool is naturally odour resistant and shrugs off dirt, so you'll find you rarely need to wash it at all - often simply airing your jacket outside in a breeze is enough to freshen it completely.

Every Woolf PureFleece® jacket is crafted in the British Isles from 100% pure merino lambswool. We use no synthetic fibres, no blends and no recycled plastics - just pure natural merino, precision woven to our own PureFleece® specification.

Yes. Woolf PureFleece® is officially certified by the Woolmark Company - the global authority on wool quality - confirming that our garments meet the highest standards for pure merino wool. Our certification number is 0030001480.
